(1)a)主格的who在 there is ...等后时,常被省去:

b)先行词指拟人化的船或国家时,或是指动物的名词时,亦用who:

They have a dog who always gives me a big welcome.

他们有一只经常热烈欢迎我的狗。

c)所有格whose亦可用于事物、动物:

The mountain whose top

(=the top of which=of which the top)

is covered with snow is the Jungfrau.

那座山顶盖着雪的山是少女峰。

(2)注意下列两例限定用法与非限定用法的差异:

He had three sons who [that] became teachers.

他有三个儿子当了老师。

(限定用法:其余的儿子不是老师)

He had three sons, who became teachers.

他有三个儿子,他们都当了老师。

(非限定用法:总共有三个儿子)

因此,在如下的句子

Her husband, who is living in Tainan, often phones her (up).

她的丈夫现住在台南,但时常打电话给她。

如果写成:

用了限定用法,就变成她有两个以上的丈夫了。
